The treasure may have belonged to the Saxon Royal Family of the Old Kingdom of Mercia.

Among the newly discovered valuable artifacts , the highlight is an extremely rare silver helmet. This hat is made from 1,500 extremely delicate thin silver leaves. Experts speculate that this hat belongs to an important figure and could be the king of England.

However, this helmet is not completed. It is said to have been made for “eminent warriors” in the 7th century. Anglo-Saxon helmets are extremely rare artifacts in England. Experts have only found five of this type.

Some other antiques are carved with images of birds, animals or mythical creatures.

Experts have discovered more than 70 sword hilts, but they are not as unique as the newly discovered hilt.

The Staffordshire treasure was accidentally discovered by treasure hunter Terry Herbert in Hammerwich, Staffordshire, England in July 2009. In November 2012, experts found another part of the treasure in the Staffordshire treasure trove.
